Dr. Shawna Collins

Dr. Shawna Collins, a native of Greenville, South Carolina, attended Wofford College, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology. She earned her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina in 1994, where she was awarded the Sandra K. Thore Integrity Award and the Organization of Teachers of Oral Diagnosis Award. After dental school, Dr. Collins advanced her education by completing a General Practice Residency at Palmetto Richland Hospital in Columbia, South Carolina.

After practicing dentistry for 14 years in Conway as an associate and then a partner in a private practice, Dr. Collins moved to Wisconsin for 3 years where her husband attended seminary. While residing in Wisconsin, Dr. Collins joined the faculty at Marquette University School of Dentistry in Milwaukee where she enjoyed teaching “Preservation and Restoration of Tooth Structure” to dental students.

In 2011, Dr. Collins and her family moved back to Conway and she joined the faculty at Horry-Georgetown Technical College in the Dental Sciences Department, teaching dental assistant and dental hygiene students. Dr. Collins was also the dentist for the Community Dental Clinic, which received a grant from the Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation to provide dental services for uninsured and underinsured citizens. In addition, she supervised dental students from the Medical University of South Carolina in the Community Dental Clinic.

Dr. Collins is an active member of the American Dental Association, the South Carolina Dental Association, and the Pee Dee District Dental Association.

Dr. Collins is married to The Reverend Jason Collins and has a daughter, Hannah, and a son, Duncan. All are active members of St. Paul’s Church in Conway, where Jason serves as Senior Pastor. Dr. Collins is a member of the Order of the Daughters of the King, an organization dedicated to prayer and service. She also enjoys serving in other ministries in the church and volunteering in the community. In March of 2012, Dr. Collins had the privilege of serving on a medical mission team where she provided dental services to the needy in several villages in Haiti.

In Dr. Collins’ free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, photography, and scrapbooking.
